Hanging Rock golf course first opened for play in 1991. The course was designed by Russell F. Breedon.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6828 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4463 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 551 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 6, a par-3 that plays to 166 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 7, a 434 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Hanging Rock Golf Club is # 13, a 343 yard par-4.

Mountain setting with scenic views. Lots of narrow fairways. Accuracy is better rewarded than distance. Challenging greens. Occassional wildlife to stop and look at. Great staff.

We play regularly every week. This course ranks as one of the best in the Southwest, Central part of VA. Friendly staff which includes all of the caretakes of this course. They take pride in what the course looks like and is well maintained. Pin locations on the undulating greens make these greens an excellent challenge for all players. Always fun to play and is especially picturesque with the fall colors.
